As a part of its “Reality Check” campaign, Verizon – with the help of McCann New York – created none other than — art. In the ad, a modern art gallery is presented, exhibiting 4G coverage areas of Verizon’s competitors – AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. Visitors are asked to describe the “art”, resulting in answers like “bunny rabbits,” no one actually figuring out that the colorful splatters are actually parts of the U.S. map. Highlighting the brand’s strength – and its competitors’ weaknesses – the only map that passers-by actually recognize is Verizon’s. The idea of making 4G coverage into “art” is interesting by itself, but pointing out Verizon’s strength with strong images such as these is pretty clever.
